Active Ingredients
Pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmetics
API stands for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient. It refers to the biologically active component of a drug that produces the intended therapeutic effect. APIs are the key ingredients responsible for the pharmacological activity of a medication.
In the cosmetics industry, API stands for Active Cosmetic Ingredient. Similar to pharmaceuticals, APIs in cosmetics are the active substances that provide specific benefits to the skin or hair. These ingredients play a crucial role in the formulation of cosmetic products and contribute to their intended effects, such as moisturizing, anti-aging, or skin brightening.
Encapsulation
By using CO2 processes for drug isolation, purification and formulation we create improved pharmaceutical products. Through our unique formulation technology, especially encapsulation, we create targeted and triggered release systems.
Sc CO2 Competitive advantage:
- No solvent, zero, waste
- Gaseous CO2 at ambient T, therefore it separates spontaneously upon depressurization
- Better unimodal size/population distribution
- More homogeneous properties
- Single particle size: more stable, better bioavailability
- Faster and more compact process
- We obtain particule size < 60 nano mètres
Drug products with optimal properties
The Biotech One team has unique skills to develop drug products with optimal properties (optimized drug bioavailability, improved compliance, increased shelf life). The technologies used make it possible to develop intelligent nanosystems (nanomedicine) of particular interest in cancer therapies or gene therapy.
These technologies are also particularly suitable for the formulation of messenger RNA vaccines, ensuring the formation of stable lipid nanovesicles encapsulating the nucleic acid.
The processes used make it possible to produce in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Enhanced stability and bioavailability
Our CO2 spray dry technology allows for the creation of a large surface area through micronization or molecular formulation, resulting in an enhanced bioavailability.
This increased bioavailability enables a reduction in the required amount of active ingredients, aligning with the goal of extending patent life.
Furthermore, our technology facilitates increased product shelf-life by offering protection, such as UV coating or moisture-resistant coatings, for active ingredients.
Notably, our CO2 technology operates below 60⁰C, leaving no residual solvents, thereby making it suitable for peptide proteins and enzymes.
